Data Description:

The Freedom in the World Index measures levels of political rights and civil liberties. The index rates 25 indicators, grouped into two categories: (1) political rights (e.g., electoral process, political pluralism and participation, and functioning of government) and (2) civil liberties (e.g., freedom of expression and belief, associational and organizational rights, rule of law, and personal autonomy and individual rights). Scores are an average of the two categories and currently range from 1.0–2.5 (free), 3.0–5.0 (partly free), to 5.5–7.0 (not free).
